"We recorded it (upcoming live release) this past Saturday
at the Whiskey in Wilmington. It went really well and we
will be doing a couple of more recordings of shows: one in
Asheville and one more in Wilmington over the next month. After
that our live album will be mastered and put online for FREE.
It's going to be an official release but will be free for
all... You are the first to find out. I'm not sure that we
were "supposed" to tell you but hey it's Wednesday
everybody could use a pick-me-up, right?" - Tyler Simmons

"We are looking forward to this tour like every other one.
As I said earlier, it's an amazing feeling to be able to do what
we love and have it embraced by such amazing people. We can't do
it without every person present-it's the give and take between
band and fans that make it so special." - Curt Heiny

"We're actually going back into the studio for the next
record right after the New Year's Eve Tour. There are 18
new songs in the running right now. It should be released
by the summer. This is an exclusive. You heard it
here first. Only at CLMS"

MarsupiaL
- MarsupiaL's special blend of progressive rock, jam-band,
southern roots and jazz transcends any preconceived
classification. Mick Skidmore of Relix Magazine explains,
“The band operates as a tight-knit family and has a common
philosophy of crossing all available musical boundaries. In the
past five years, this quartet has created a buzz around the
southeast U.S. with an eclectic vision that melds an improv-heavy
mix of jazz-rock and progressive rock with superior melodic
content". Now, with the release of MarsupiaL's fourth CD,
'Genus Thylacinus’, the band is being touted as "One of
the nation's brightest stars in the prog-rock scene."
"In addition to making a name for itself through powerful
live shows, MarsupiaL is quickly earning a reputation as one of
the most thoughtful recording artists in the prog-rock field,
earning comparisons to national acts such as Umphrey's McGee,"
says the Mountain Times. The band's 2006 release 'Curtains'
garnered rave reviews worldwide from critics and fans alike, and
quickly became a favorite on WNCW's 'Arc Overnight' program.
This follows the success of 'Moby Fleck', an album that landed
in the top 20 regional albums for the year 2006.
MarsupiaL is on the road in support of 'Genus Thylacinus'
and rocks Charlotte 5/29/09 at The Salvador Deli.
Supporting Live Music In The
Carolinas!

Welcome!
You've reached the home of the
Carolina Live Music Society. Established in 2006, we
bring music to the people, and people to the music. We produced, promoted, and raged our first event, a
Toys for Tots benefit featuring The Mantras and Dead End Parking in
December 2006. Since that first benefit we've worked with national and international
artists such as The Disco
Biscuits, Dark Star Orchestra, New Monsoon, EOTO, PBS,
Col. Bruce Hampton; as well as local, regional, and first time
touring acts such as Incognito Mosquito,
The Mantras, The New Familiars, Leah Randazzo, Eymarel, The Lee Boys,
Barrel House
Mamas, Roots of Creation, SeepeopleS, and many more...
Our community is
comprised of musicians, bands, venues, promoters, production staff,
photographers, archivists, and most importantly the fans who come to
the shows. Our charitable work has benefited many in our music
community as well as various local charities like Toys for Tots, and
Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
In an effort to grow
as a community, while enjoying the camaraderie
found at music & arts festivals, CLMS members are often
performing,
producing, promoting, and/or volunteering at events like AmJam, Echo
Project, Trinumeral, Camp Bisco, All Good, Floydfest, Mantra Bash,
Langerado, Mtn. Sports Festival and others... We are committed to
our common passion for live music.
At
carolinalivemusic.net members receive announcements about free or greatly discounted tickets
to shows and festivals around the Carolinas as well as special
promotions reserved only for Society members. After the shows CLMS members
meet here to download
and listen to recordings of the shows. We discuss music news,
browse photos, and view concert footage leading
up to and after shows we're involved with. Our photo galleries are available for
everyone. As with all CLMS ventures, our online
community is non-commercial and maintained entirely by volunteers. We
accept money donations to the society for server space but not for any other purpose.
If the counter at the top of the page is green, we have enough to
cover this month's server expense. If it's red we are
accepting donations. Our server expense is currently
$75.00/month. We accept volunteers to help with our site upkeep with
gratitude and reward with tickets donated by society venues and the
bands.
Music
and video submissions
are made by the artists, venues, and
reputable archivists from our community. All music and video
is used with permission from taper friendly artists via link with
YouTube and The Live Music Archive. Society membership is
free and only requires registration
and following the Rules.
We have an extensive archive of shows and are always working on our next big
event. We work with venues that support our efforts such as The Double Door Inn, Neighborhood Theatre,
The Evening Muse, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and others.
Take a look around... we have something for everyone.

you feel you have something to contribute... let
